# Other Resources for the Contemporary Improvisor

Kory W. Mathewson · 2014-09-05 · https://korymathewson.com/more-improv-resources/ · A curated list of improv blogs, podcasts, and online resources for the contemporary improviser.

Recently, I posted a [big ol' list of the best books about improvisation](http://wp.me/pztyn-Ev). I did this for two reasons:

1. I like to keep my resources in order; and
2. To provide references for other improvising teachers / students / directors to enjoy.

The post generated a lot of chatter on [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/korymath/posts/10100454570654765?comment_id=10100456581814385&offset=0&total_comments=29&ref=notif&notif_t=share_comment) about great resources on improv and acknowledged that sometimes the best writing on improvisation is unpublished. While the collection of books may provide a great corpus of our extemporaneous art form, there exist far fewer critical contemporary writings / improv blogs / podcasts on improvisation, save for a few well curated, and more importantly updated regularly, resources online. Without further adieu, here is the small subset that I subscribe to:

1. [Improv Nonsense](http://improvnonsense.tumblr.com/) by [Will Hines](http://www.willhines.net/)
2. [Improv Octopus](http://improvoctopus.tumblr.com/) by [Alex Berg](http://losangeles.ucbtheatre.com/talent/view/6294)
3. [The Way of Improvisation](http://www.thewayofimprovisation.com/) by [Dave Morris](http://www.davemorris.tv/) (and others)
4. [People and Chairs](http://peopleandchairs.com/)
5. [Improv Nerd](http://jimmycarrane.com/blog/) by [Jimmy Carrane](http://jimmycarrane.com/about/)
6. [The Backline - An Improv Podcast](https://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/backline-improv-podcast/id900752717?mt=2)
7. [The Improv Resource Center](http://www.improvresourcecenter.com/mb/)

These are incredible resources from contemporary thinkers in the improv world today... if I am missing something, let me know and I am happy to add them to the list.
